THROWBACK 2020: A big weekend for Condobolin Rotary
FEBRUARY 2020:
Members of the Rotary Club of Balgowlah visited Condobolin Rotary over the Race weekend in 2020.
This was the third time the Club has come to our town. They were particularly keen to visit at this time as they are extremely mindful of the difficulties facing regional areas in this devastating drought.
The members to quote said “We need no accommodation or to incur any expense to Condobolin Rotary.
We are coming to spend money in your town”. To do so, a program was organised beginning with a welcome dinner at the Railway Hotel on Thursday night. Friday saw them visit the Wiradjuri Cultural Centre, lunch down town, and in the afternoon Mal Brady kindly gave up his time to show them over the Burrawang West property where the large dorper stud is located.
The visitors were very impressed as they learned a lot about dorpers and saw the innovative technology associated with the farm. Later, Mal took them on an inspection of the Yarrabandai Farm Resort. That night they met members of the Wild Dog biking contingent at the Condobolin Hotel followed by attending the Picnic Race Calcutta at the Royal Hotel.
On Saturday they inspected the Gum Bend Lake Walkway, a proposed Rotary project involving seating and shelter which Balgowlah Club wishes to support.
Then, Race Day and what great weather it was. Condobolin Rotary hosted the visitors in a marquee and also invited any Bikers to join us as this year they were supporting the local Rotary Club.
Balgowlah’s final activity on Sunday was breakfast at the Sports Club. They all voted it a great weekend, expressing the pleasure they had in meeting so many locals and for the friendship and hospitality of our members.
Condobolin Rotary’s final involvement was to attend the Condobolin Hotel where we received the very generous donation, exceeding any expectations, from the President and members of the “Wild Dogs”.
They have been visiting Condobolin each Picnic Race Day weekend for at least the last fifteen years supporting our town and many organisations.
