BURRAWANG TAKES TOP HONOURS AT SHOW
Burrawang Dorper and White Dorper Stud from Ootha in NSW has taken top honours in the Breed Elite National Show and Sale as part of the Dorper Sheep Society Of Australia Southern Region Show and Sale.
National Judge Danny Teskera was very pleased with the quality of the animals competing. Despite the number of sheep that withdrew from the competition early or couldn’t make it into Victoria he was still exceptionally impressed by the quality of the sheep that did compete.
“I think the winners were of exceptional quality and would have stood up regardless if there was a handful of sheep or if there would have been 600 competing,” he said.
“The championship animals are as good as the breed has in the country, and congratulations to those exhibitors who put all the effort into making it what it was,” said Mr Teskera.
Over 60 sheep were competing with three states of dorper breeders being represented from NSW, VIC and TAS.
Burrawang Dorper and White Dorper Stud’s Sire ram Shotgun was awarded the 2021 DSSA National Supreme Dorper Exhibit and Show Supreme, after taking out the accolades of National Champion Junior Dorper Ram and National Grand Champion Dorper Ram. Burrawang Budweiser was awarded the 2021 DSSA National Supreme White Dorper Exhibit and Show Supreme, after taking out the accolades of National Champion White Dorper Ram and National Grand Champion White Dorper Ram.
Burrawang stud master Wicus Cronje said it was wonderful that the competition still went ahead as it was a lot of planning to prepare and transport a show team of 20 rams.
“We wanted to show the world the quality that Burrawang is breeding, so it was wonderful that the National judge Danny Teskera was able to proceed with the judging earlier than planned,” he said.
“Burrawang has an extensive breeding program, and it is great to get such fantastic results”, said Mr Cronje.
