FOSTER STREET REDEVELOPMENT BECOMES A REALITY
The planned redevelopment of Foster Street in Lake Cargelligo is underway.
Lachlan Shire Council and project contractors Conseth Solutions are partnering to deliver the first stage of the project.
The $2.8 million Foster Street Redevelopment and Tourism Activation Project, is being jointly funded by Lachlan Shire Council, the State and Federal Governments.
The redevelopment will include upgrades to earthworks, drainage, kerb and footpath replacements, pavement reconstruction, intersection improvements and increased outdoor dining areas to enhance the appearance of the main street, making it a more inviting place for business, residents, and visitors.
“After 20 years lobbying for this, it is just fantastic to see the works underway. With the natural beauty of the lake as the backdrop, the Foster Street redevelopment will be a real game changer for our community, it will be something that our community can be really proud of,” Lachlan Shire Council Deputy Mayor, Councillor Paul Phillips stated.
The construction will be undertaken in sections, with the majority of the works occurring over the next six months. Stage one which is now in progress includes stormwater pipe installation around the Lake and Foster Street intersection.
“The Foster Street Redevelopment is a major project in a high traffic area, and as the various stages are rolled out, it is inevitable that the works will impact access in, and around the construction site and diminish the attractiveness of the street,” Lachlan Shire General Manager Greg Tory explained.
“To minimise the inconvenience to residents, businesses and visitors, Council staff will undertake community awareness campaigns throughout the project, and work with Foster Street businesses to minimise disruption to vehicle and pedestrian access during construction.”
Plans and project updates will be displayed in the Lake Cargelligo Library shopfront, with residents and businesses encouraged to contact Council’s Infrastructure Services on 02 6895 1900 for any additional information.
