THROWBACK 2019: Students discover environment and science

SEPTEMBER 2019:

Students enjoyed participating in an Environmental Science Day was held at St Joseph’s Parish School Condobolin on Tuesday, 3 September 2019. Over 200 students from Bogan Gate, St Patrick’s Trundle, Condobolin Primary and Condobolin MET Schools took part. Groups visited 11 presentations, each with a different presenter throughout the event. The presentations included ‘Human Impacts on Nature’ (conducted by local wildlife enthusiast and photographer Warren Chad), ‘The ARRR (Avoid, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) Gameshow’ (conducted by Sue Clarke from NetWaste), ‘Wonderful Waterbugs’ (conducted by Mal Carnegie from the Lake Cowal Foundation), ‘Get Hooked – It’s Fun to Fish’ (conducted by Simone Mabon, NSW DPI Fisheries with help from local Dale Thompson), ‘Digging Deep Into Soil’ (conducted by Anne Earney along with Year 10 and 11 students from Condobolin High School), ‘Recycled Art; (conducted by Heather Blackley from Waste2Art), ‘How Long Does Your Rubbish Last?’ (conducted by Sally Russell from the Lake Cowal Conservation Centre), ‘Lines in Leaves’ (conducted by Brittany Turner from the Lake Cowal Conservation Centre), ‘Fabulous Frogs’ (conducted by local artist Karen Tooth), ‘Things That Live in the Lachlan’ (conducted by Doctor Adam Kerezsy, who is an ecologist, author, musician and photographer), and ‘Bag-a-Shirt’ (conducted by Karen Turner and Margaret Swanston from Boomerang Bags). The day was organised by Doctor Libby Roesner from Condobolin and Districts Landcare. MB.
