Looking at Fire Trucks

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 259 Condobolin held an Open Day at Pat Timmins Oval on Saturday, 9 May. The community and many Condobolin Junior Rugby League players were able to get up close to the fire trucks and rescue equipment, and chat to local firefighters about the simple steps they can take to be fire safe this winter. “Open Day is a terrific opportunity for our firefighters to interact with the community we serve,” FRNSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell AFSM said. “It is an exciting day out, get a close look at our fire trucks, learn how we operate and ask us about safety advice or even how to join FRNSW.” The public were encouraged to talk to firefighters about home fire safety, smoke alarms and risks relating to lithium-ion batteries. “Lithium-ion batteries aren’t just found in e-bikes, they’re used to power everyday items from an electric toothbrush to vacuum cleaners,” FRNSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell AFSM explained. Sharing simple steps to avoid a kitchen fire or make a home fire escape plan were also on the agenda. Image Credit: Fire and Rescue NSW Station 259 Condobolin Facebook Page.
