HORSING AROUND
Two miniature horses put big smiles on the faces of residents at William Beech Gardens in Condobolin.
Kerre Pearce, along with ‘Pepper’ and ‘Rocky’ spent time at the facility recently, where residents interacted with the horses, who were more than willing to mingle with delighted residents.
“They all absolutely loved them,” she explained.
“Residents patted ‘Pepper’ and ‘Rocky’, talked to them and treated them to lots of love and laughter. Some residents even gave them a hug. It’s a chance for everyone to make new connections and have a great time.
“One resident even shared a biscuit with ‘Rocky’, who absolutely loved it. The only problem then, was he kept looking for more treats from residents!
“They were all very excited to see them and it was wonderful to see the joy on the resident’s faces. ‘Pepper’ and ‘Rocky’ certainly made some new friends.”
To make the visit even more special, both horses were dressed up in Halloween costumes.
Mrs Pearce bred ‘Pepper’ and ‘Rocky’ on her farm. ‘Rocky’ is three-years-old and has a mischievous streak, while ‘Pepper’ is four-years-old and has a very easy going nature.
“Pepper even went to sleep a couple of times while the residents were patting her,” she said. “She has such a lovely nature. ‘Rocky’ can get into a bit of trouble but he is quite a charmer when he wants to be.”
She said she hopes to take both horses back again to the village closer to Christmas, where they will dress up in their festive finery.
