'A Book of Memories' will be launched on Friday 9th September at the start of the Ungarie 150 year celebrations weekend.

UNGARIE CELEBRATES

Plans are well under way for a weekend of celebrations over September 9th, 10th and 11th as Ungarie turns 150.
Ungarie Advancement Group have teamed the celebrations with the Ungarie Show day much like in 1972 when Ungarie celebrated its Centenary on October long weekend.
A complete timeline of the weekends events is still being finalised. One major feature of the weekend will see the launch of “A Book Of Memories” which has been 5 years in the making. An idea of Mr Lindsay Henley knowing Ungarie was turning 150. With the support of Bland Shire Council and Ungarie Advancement Group, his idea came to fruition. He has gathered stories and memories from 37 elderly residents, some who have since passed, making it even more special.
The book launch will take place on Friday September 9, pre-orders of books being taken by contacting Mrs Sheila Henley 0428 759 300 or Vanessa Williams 6975 9158 or 0429 174 765.
The Ungarie Show will take place on Saturday September 10 after a 2 year break due to COVID restrictions. All the usual show displays and events will be happening along with a few new additions and special attractions.
A competition gaining much interest is the Mullets, Beards, Moustaches Competition, a similar event happened back in 1972 as part of the Centenary. The Grand Parade at the show will see a float procession honouring our past and present. We believe some very creative minds are working on floats already.
