Tony Broadley was a nominee for both the Lachlan Shire award for Community Service and the Lachlan Shire Citizen of the Year award. Community Service award was presented to both Kathy Parnaby (Condobolin) and Meredith Ervin (Lake Cargelligo) and the Citizen of the Year went to Janelle Ireland (Tullibigeal). The following is Tony’s summary that was read at the award ceremony.
The devoted commitment to our town from Tony Broadley, over his lifetime, as an active and community minded citizen is rare and admirable. Tony became a member of the Condobolin Rotary Club and has committed almost 57 years volunteering service through Rotary to benefit the Condobolin people and community.
In recognition of his commitment and active service with Rotary, Tony has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship and Rotarian of the year four times.
Tony demonstrates passion for his community and is consistently willing to invest time and effort into community initiatives. His long association and current involvement with organisations including Condobolin Catholic Church, the Historical Society, Condobolin Veterans Golf club, Condobolin Auto Sports, the Aero Club and Meals on Wheels demonstrates his reliability and commitment.
Tony is the type of citizen we would like our next generation to aspire to. Currently and across his lifetime he has been an active community member engaging in various activities and initiatives that contribute to the well being and improvement of our community.
