THROWBACK 2020: Locals embrace Movember

DECEMBER 2020:

Condobolin has embraced Movember.
Movember is about raising awareness and having conversations about men’s health and moving forward in making a difference in mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
These conversations could help save a father, a brother, a son, a friend, a partner, a man’s life, according to Western Plains Regional Development’s Drought Support Officer Lee-Anne Denyer.
“Drought Support and Suicide Prevention have dedicated this year in bringing awareness to men’s health issues,” she explained.
“Our Movember’s project is not about raising money it’s about raising awareness and wellbeing.
“We have had a Facebook page ‘Grow your Mo’ set up were we have uploaded photos of our local men who are on board with growing Mo’s or who just support raising awareness to Men’s Health.
“Morning tea events were held with local work business and groups of men where Men’s health issues where discussed, and awareness raised.
“This project has seen great outcomes with people taking on training in mental health and implementing wellbeing projects within their own environments.”
Western Plains Regional Development INC Drought Support and Suicide Prevention projects have been delivering Rural Minds, Safe Talk and Mental Health First Aid to the community throughout November and December 2020 and will continue in 2021.
If you are interested in receiving any mental health training please contact Lee-Anne Denyer at WPRD.
