THROWBACK 2019: Leonie wins

JUNE 2019:

Condobolin Health Service’s Leonie Parker has been named the winner of First State Super ‘Staff Member of the Year’ Award.
The accolade is given as part of the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) annual Living Quality and Safety Awards.
Introduced in 2013, this award aims to recognise employees who have made an exceptional contribution to the NSW Health system.
It aims to acknowledge an individual who provides excellence in service to support patients, carers and families, is a role model for promoting positive cultural change, inspires other staff within
the Health District and uses new and innovative ways to engage staff, patients, carers and/or families.
Leonie is a well-respected nurse not only in Condobolin but in the WNSWLHD. She is on a number of committees that represent rural Nurse Practitioners, a highly specialised category of nursing, and is a strong advocate for Women’s Health.
She is also responsible for establishing and maintaining the only Nurse Practitioner led Colposcopy Clinic in NSW for the past seven years. As a Nurse Practitioner Leonie is in the respected position of offering supervision to others, also contributes at a state level to the further advancement of Rural Nurse Practitioners.
She is a wonderful example of the dedicated and fantastic staff employed across the WNSWLHD.
“The WNSWLHD Living Quality and Safety Awards are our chance to recognise and celebrate innovation,” WNSWLHD Chief Executive, Scott McLachlan explained.
“The Awards showcase the work of our teams who strive to provide world-class health care to our patients, no matter where they are. In achieving that, we apply both evidence and ingenuity to find new and better ways to help keep people healthy, and to provide care when needed. Our Awards have gone from strength to-strength”.
“In 2019 we received more than 100 submissions from staff and teams across all the categories.”
Award finalists presented their projects a Symposium held in Dubbo on Thursday, 20 June, allowing the innovations and achievements to be shared with health workers and managers from
across the District. The Awards were presented at a function on the same night.
