THROWBACK 2019: Dads in Schools a great success

JULY 2019:

Whether they wore their outdoor working uniforms or simply casual attire, significant male figures close to students from around the local area, flocked to Condobolin Public School for a special gathering mid 2019.
The school and its kindergarten classes celebrated a ‘Dads In School’ event recently, they accompanied their children to the classroom, made paintings, did chalk drawings, read books, played with blocks and a myriad of other activities.
The students were excited to be part of this unique event with their significant male figure.
‘Dads In School’ was developed by CatholicCare Wilcannia-Forbes NSW in response to a request from a school about activities for fathers and children in schools. The program aims to create and foster partnerships between families and schools in their community.
Dads In School activities are facilitated by trained Men and Family Workers. The activity is open to kindergarten children and their father, grandfather or other significant male figure in their lives. Children and family member are given the opportunity to engage in one-on-one, small and large group activities.
