THE FIRST OF THE “STRONGER COMMUNITIES” FREE COOKING CLASSES

Media Release

On Thursday 21st July, the first of the “Stronger Communities’ free cooking classes were held at the Lake Cargelligo Memorial Hall.
Tom Brown from HnM Butchery was the first of our presenters and demonstrated a budget friendly Porcupine Meatballs with Penne. The meal was budgeted at $4.33 for a very generous serve.
Participants were excited to jump in and help with the preparation of the meal and feedback was that it was a delicious recipe that they will happily cook for their families.
Those who attended were given a bag of ingredients to take home so they could cook what they had learnt for their loved ones.
These free classes have been made possible through funding that was secured by the Lake Cargelligo/Murrin Bridge Local Drug Action Team (LDAT) from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation.
The classes will be conducted most Thursdays at 10:30am throughout this school term with a finale BBQ to be held on September 29th .
Whilst these classes are running, the LDAT group will be busy compiling recipes to include in a free community cookbook. These cookbooks will not only include delicious budget family recipes but a list of services that people can access.
Community members are encouraged to bring in their favourite recipes to be included in the community cookbook. They can be dropped at Lower Lachlan Community Services (LLCS) or emailed to manager@lowerlachlan.com.au.
This Thursday 28th July 2022 will see Sergeant Ben Munro present Satay chicken skewers.
If you wish to attend these classes, please contact Lower Lachlan Community Services on 02 6898 1151 or email manager@lowerlachlan.com.au.
