STUDENT ARTWORKS TO BE EXHIBITED

At the close of 2020, Christine McMillan, Art and Health Coordinator with the Western NSW Local Health District and Arts OutWest, called for artwork from Trundle school students to be elected for long-term exhibition in Trundle’s local health facility.

Students from both Trundle schools created a fine range of artworks around the theme of ‘Joy’, with an understanding that their audience are people who are visiting the hospital with acute health problems, people who live within the nursing home and hostel sections of the health service, staff who work at the service, and people visiting their loved ones in the facility.

Students have produced some beautiful artworks, and recently twelve of the artworks were selected by three judges: professional artist, Deb Jones; Parkes Shire Council Cultural Coordinator, Keryn Jones, and Christine McMillan. After making some difficult decisions from such a great range of works, the judges selected the paintings that will be exhibited at the Health Service for the next twelve months.

Christine hung these selected works at the health service building this past week, and the remaining artworks will be then exhibited at the large room at the Trundle Foodstore, so that all community members will be able to view these happy creations.

A huge thank you to all the students for these beautiful gifts, and to teachers Kim Williams, Casey Maguire and Pam Burke for their time and effort in working with the students to get these artworks completed.
