Local events cancelled in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic

COVID-19 concerns have caused the cancellation of many upcoming local events.

Western NSW Local Health District has said there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Condobolin.

The Tullibigeal Picnic Races, which were to be held on Saturday, 28 March. A notification was placed on the Tullibigeal Picnic Race Club Facebook Page on Monday, 16 March. The Page said it had consulted with Racing NSW and other authorities before the decision was made. The D’Aquino’s Condo 750 announced the cancellation of its 2020 event on its Facebook Page on Monday, 16 March.

“Due to the imposed gathering ban it is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Condo 750,” the post began. “We have a responsibility to our community, competitors, committee, officials, volunteers and spectators to ensure that we as an event don’t add to this already increasing crisis. A full refund will be offered to all paid entries, please give us time to contact you and arrange this. We thank you for your support of our 2020 event and hope to see you all for our 2021 event,” the post concluded.

Condobolin Rams Rugby League Football Club has also cancelled all training sessions until further notice.

Condobolin Aboriginal Health Service have cancelled all specialist visits to the facility until further notice, as a result of COVID-19. Mark Scott, Secretary of the Department of Education announced on Monday, 16 March that schools across NSW, would adopt social distancing measures requiring them to cancel assemblies, excursions, travel, some events and conferences.

Condobolin Public School and St Joseph’s Parish School, have also cancelled participation in a number or sporting events including the PSSA Knockout Cricket competition, the Peachey/Richardson Gala Day and the Wilcannia Forbes Winter Trials. CPS will also be no longer holding assemblies until further notice.
