Lake Cargelligo Women’s Bowling Club Grade 4 Pennant Team get nominated

The Lake Cargelligo Women’s Bowling Club Grade 4 Pennant Team were nominated for the Lachlan Shire Sportsperson of the Year award. The award was presented to Brad Hart of Lake Cargelligo. Below is the summary that was read at the Australia Day award ceremony.
The Lake Cargelligo Women’s Grade 4 Pennant Team played in the Southern Slopes Pennant competition. Finishing on top of the ladder with wins over Wyalong S & C and Temora. The next level was the Regional Final held at Young. In this match Lake defeated Wagga RSL Club to move forward to the State Pennant Finals. Travelling to Bateau Bay for the 4-day event was a highlight for the bowlers and their supporters. Lake won 2 of the 3 round robin matches in their section finishing second advancing to the final series.
Although Hamilton North won the match, all Lake bowlers played excellent bowls and competed to the very last bowl. On being presented with the State Pennant Grade 4 Runner’s Up Flag the team members celebrated with great enthusiasm. Team members include – Narelle Hayward, Judy Hague, Justina Twomey, Beth Fisher, Kerry Turner, Bev Fyfe, Pam Browne, Sue Hart, Janelle Ireland, Julie Twomey.
Club members participate in as many events as possible including tournaments, Regional Championships and Regional Pennant. This is the first time Lake Cargelligo Women’s Bowling Club has won a State Runner’s Up Flag. Members are striving to maintain this performance level or go one better in the future and The Lake Pennant Team Grade 3 has won through to the State event again for 2024/2025.
Lake Cargelligo Women’s Bowling Club believe success leads to more involvement in the sport which generates more awareness that being involved in a sport promotes both exercise and mental health well-being.
