Farm Manager assaulted
The Rural Crime Prevention Team and Condobolin Police are investigating the assault of a farm Manager in the Vermont Hill area, around 75 kilometres North of Condobolin.
Around 8:30pm on Monday 20 January 2025, a farm manager observed a vehicle trespassing on the property. The farm manager went to investigate and approached the vehicle and asked the occupants what they were doing. The driver of the vehicle got out of the vehicle and punched the farm manager in the face and a short scuffle ensued. A second male person remained in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The offenders fled the scene in the vehicle.
Fortunately, the farm manager did not sustain any serious injuries.
Police suspect the occupants of the vehicle, a Silver Nissan Navara were in the area to trespass and hunt on properties illegally. The vehicle is described as follows.
•Single cab D22 Nissan Navara tray back, silver in colour. Approx 2010 model
•Dog crate on rear of tray with dogs in the back
•Silver coloured bulbar with snapped off UHF aerial.
•Panels in rough condition typical of a hunting or farm type vehicle
•Black and yellow number plates
Police are appealing for information from members of the public to try and identify the vehicle and the persons involved in this incident. Any person who may have been in the Vermont hills are at the time with Dam Cam footage is encouraged to review footage and provide any relevant footage to Police.
Any member of the public who has information regarding the identity of the offenders or vehicles are encouraged to contact the Condobolin Police station on 6895 6600 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. If you have people entering your private property without permission, you have asked them to leave your property and they do not comply, they are trespassing. This is a crime.
To assist police, please consider video recording your request to leave and the actions of the trespassers, such as your smartphone, but ONLY if it is safe to do so. Endeavour to record the whole process where possible.
Police should be called at the first opportunity without taking matters into your own hands.
