Drew Medcalf nominated for Sportsperson Award
Drew Medcalf from Tottenham was one of the nominees for Lachlan Shire Sportsperson of the Year award. The award was won by Brad Hart of Lake Cargelligo. The following is the summary read at the ceremony.
Drew Medcalf had a very enjoyable and memorable 2025 in all thing’s sporting. Drew represented Tottenham Central School, Tottenham Soccer Club and Tottenham Motorcycle Club. Amongst very extraordinary achievements Drew performed well at the Tottenham swimming carnival being named the senior boys runner up and then proceeded to represent Tottenham at the Gobondery/NARRAF swimming carnival. He represented Gobondery/NARRAF at the PSSA Western swimming trials in Dubbo.
At the Tottenham Central School Athletics Carnival Drew placed in all events being named the Senior Boys Champion and breaking three records. For the 100m he broke a 42-year-old record from 1982. Drew went onto the Gobondery/NARRAF Athletics and was named Senior Boy Champion at this event.
At the Western Athletics carnival Drew put his best foot forward in all events placing second in the 1500m with selection to State. Drew was successful in getting to State in the 1500m event at Sydney Olympic Park and ran a PB of 5:16min placing 30th from 36 competitors.
Drew also came 1st in the senior boy’s cross country at both Tottenham and Gobondery/NARRAF trials and placed 4th at Western resulting in selection for State.
From the list of many achievements in sports like swimming, athletics, cross country, cricket, football, soccer and motocross, it is apparent that Drew is a determined, hardworking, ambitious sportsperson with an exceptional drive to succeed.
