SARAH ATTENDS GATHERING
Condobolin’s local Landcare Coordinator, Sarah Cranney, travelled to Dubbo recently (prior to current COVID-19 situation) to participate in the Inaugural NSW Landcare Program State Gathering.
The focus of the gathering was Learn, Share, Connect, with over 150 Landcare Program participants from across the state developing skills in many areas including building understanding of community organisations, rural resilience, technology, and partnership opportunities.
Sarah said that the event was a fantastic opportunity to meet the people she has only previously known on zoom meetings, and an enjoyable way to network with coordinators and members of the NSW Landcare and LLS teams.
The group was lucky enough to hear from many guest speakers including Robbie Sefton, Founder and Managing Director of Seftons, Mary Brell, Director of Keys to Success, Merryl Semple, presenter of the Resilience Advantage Program and Craig Aspinall speaking about the outlay of the ‘Working Together’ Aboriginal Communities Engagement Program.
Landcare NSW Chair Stephanie Cameron said the event was critical to building common understanding and capacity across the state.
“Landcare’s strength lies in the strength of its grassroots, community movement – it’s about local people doing work on the ground to provide local solutions to local problems,” said Ms Cameron.
Sarah is looking forward to applying the skills she has learnt in her approach to Condobolin’s Landcare program, and hopes to see everyone again at the 2022 NSW Landcare and Local Land Services Conference in March at Tweed Heads.
