ANDREW SHARES A FAVOURITE BOOK
On Friday, 3 July Andrew Chamen, from Chamen’s Supa IGA, took part in the Condobolin Preschool and Childcare Centre’s began ‘Read to Me’ Program.
Members of the community are invited to pick a children’s book of their choice and share it with the children.
Andrew showcased his favourite book, ‘Green Eggs and Ham’, with children and educators.
Green Eggs and Ham is one of Dr Seuss’s “Beginner Books”, written with very simple vocabulary for beginning readers. When Sam-I-am pesters a grumpy grouch to eat a plate of green eggs and ham, we soon find out we can’t really know what we like until we try it!
Green Eggs and Ham was written after a bet with Bennett Cert, the co-founder of Random House that he wouldn’t write a book with fifty or fewer distinct words.
The 50 words are: a, am, and, anywhere, are, be, boat, box, car, could, dark, do, eat, eggs, fox, goat, good, green, ham, here, house, I, if, in, let, like, may, me, mouse, not, on, or, rain, Sam, say, see, so, thank, that, the, them, there, they, train, tree, try, will, with, would, and you.
