ENVIRONMENTAL WATER ADVISORY GROUP FOR THE LACHLAN VALLEY – SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment – Biodiversity & Conservation, is seeking applications from the community for Membership of the Lachlan Environmental Water Advisory Group (EWAG).

The Lachlan EWAG provides advice to the Department on the use of water for the environment in the Lachlan valley for its water-dependent ecosystems.

Suitable applicants will be able to contribute their local knowledge and relevant experience to guide the beneficial use of water for the environment.

Members will actively participate providing information, analysis and recommendations from their vantage point in the local community or representing a stakeholder group, to assist environmental water managers make adaptive decisions.

Specific skills and knowledge sought includes Indigenous knowledge, floodplain and wetland land management, local scientific knowledge, Lachlan specific wetland and riverine knowledge including ecological knowledge and related community interests.

Appointments are for up to five years with quarterly meetings conducted each year and some additional field trips undertaken.

Please note that these are non-salaried positions, members will be compensated for their time and expenses in line with NSW Government guidelines.
