New AED’s for Parks

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) have now been installed in Caravan Parks across the Lachlan Shire.

Defibrillators are a first-response device used in the event of someone suffering cardiac arrest.

In an emergency they can be operated by untrained bystanders as they contain simple audio and visual directions.

“Having defibrillators at our caravan parks not only helps ensure the safety of our visitors but they can play an important role in supporting our local community’s health services,” Lachlan Shire Mayor John Medcalf OAM explained.

The defibrillators were purchased by Lachlan Shire Council through the Caravan Park Defibrillator Subsidy Program, a partnership between the Federal Government and Caravan Industry Association of Australia.

The subsidy enabled Council to purchase not only the AEDs but also alarmed external cabinets to store them in. The cabinets have been set up in prominent locations within each of the Shire’s caravan parks.

“Because caravan parks are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week they are ideal locations for these devices’ accessibility,” a statement released by Lachlan Shire Council on Friday, 20 March, said.
