Albert’s ‘Rabbit Trap’ goes National

Chanel Seven’s Sunrise weather personality, Edwina Bartholomew was in Albert recently presenting her early morning breakfast program.
Edwina, better known as “Eddie” on the show, spoke with the ‘unofficial Mayor of Albert’, Neville Owen about the giant rabbit trap contraption that will soon be attached on top of the roof of the Rabbit Trap Hotel. Residents in Albert, population 11, will use the Big Rabbit Trap to lure more tourists to their tiny town, in Lachlan Shire, 118km north of Condobolin.
The rusticated metal trap is approximately seven metres long and three metres high.
Rod Ramsey, the new licencee of The Rabbit Trap Hotel along with his wife, Meryl said, “The Sunrise team were sensational, very polite, kind, and genuinely interested and excited about the trap and coming to Albert. The three barmaids Lottie Rae, Lillian Hamilton and Lyndal were here and setting up at 5am to ensure the tiny town was looking fantastic”.
The Rabbit Trap replica has not been mounted yet as they needed council approval and reinforced poles to be put on the veranda to make sure it can hold the weight of the Trap – on ‘the Trap’!
